Founded in 2005 by four Belgian and French academic publishers, Cairn.info offers the most comprehensive online collection of French journals in the various fields of humanities and social sciences. Its English interface, Cairn international edition, features tables of contents, abstracts and full-text articles (when available in English), as well as dossiers composed by specialized journalists, who take a look at current events through the prism of francophone scholarly publishing.

Cairn International Edition enables users to search, browse and read this content without speaking a word of French. Thousands of students, scholars and many others browse Cairn every day, with more than one million visits observed each year in non-francophone countries.…

The Institute of Network Cultures (INC) analyzes and shapes the terrain of network cultures through events, publications, and online dialogue. Our projects evolve around urgent publishing, alternative revenue models, critical design and making, digital counter culture and much more.

The INC was founded in 2004 by Geert Lovink, following his appointment with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. A key focus is the establishment of sustainable research networks. Emerging critical topics are identified and shaped in a practical sense. The Research Center for the History of Transformations (RECET) is an institute for advanced research that takes the year 1989 as a starting point to think about social, economic, and cultural transformations in the wake of deep historical caesuras on a European and global scale. Its Transformative Blog and Transformative Podcast host scholars commenting on current affairs and discussing their cutting-edge research in the field of historical transformations.
RECET’s concept of transformation is inspired by Karl Polanyi and looks beyond the hegemonic post-1989 teleologies of marketization and democratization. This approach also allows us to take a long-durée perspective on transformations, with emphasis on the interdisciplinary connections to sociology, economics, and cultural and social anthropology. RECET follows the concept of Comparative Area Studies. Our focus on Central and Eastern Europe is enlarged by comparisons and the study of entanglements with other world regions, such as East Asia, and the co-transformation of Western countries.
