Baggrund
Welcome to the Danish journal Baggrund. We publish knowledge in all forms. Our texts emerge from a variety of traditions, but they share a common purpose: to open the frontiers of academic research to the public through engaging and readable articles.
We seek to create an online space focused purely on sharing knowledge, where especially young writers and academics can communicate their work to a broad audience. We seek to provide a haven from ads, notifications and all the other distractions that clutter the digital media landscape.
Baggrund is Danish for ‘Background’ and our texts may run slightly longer than what you tend to find elsewhere in your feed. During your time here, you may encounter an unfamiliar term or two. You may also brush up against methods of inquiry that are new to you. We hope you’ll take these as what they are: an invitation to read at a slower pace than what is encouraged by the perpetual scrolling of Twitter and Instagram.

Velkommen til Baggrund. Vi udgiver viden i alle afskygninger. Fælles for vores tekster er ambitionen om at formidle viden, forskning og idéer, for vidensformidling er helt centralt for Baggrund.com som platform. Målet er at give plads til, at især unge akademikere og skribenter kan formidle forskning til et bredt publikum uden reklamer, notifikationer og andet støj.
Vores tekster er lidt længere end hos de fleste andre medier, og der vil også være et begreb eller to, som stammer fra forskellige faglige traditioner. Hos os foregår læsningen i et andet tempo end Twitter og Instagrams evige scroll funktion, så bryg en kop kaffe og brug et kvarter på at læse en af vores artikler om islamisk feminisme, en meget kort introduktion til Inger Christensen eller en mikrohistorie om kunsten at koge en hundehvalp.
Du kan også tage et kig på en af vores Fokusserier, hvor vi undersøger emner, som vi synes reflekterer en problemstilling i vores samtid. Eksempelvis har vi udgivet en række artikler om afkolonisering i forbindelse med Danmarks fortid som kolonimagt og en podcast-serie, hvor Donald Trump læses igennem idéhistorien.
