Candace Allen

is a native of New England now living in London. She has worked extensively in film and television in the US and has published her first novel, Valaida (Virago Press) in 2004. Her most recent work, the acclaimed Soul Music: the Pulse of Race and Music, has been described as “part-travelogue, part-memoir, part-manifesto” (Gibson Square Press 2012).
